A coding agent joins the team

Agents onboarded like engineers: a seat, an owner, limits, whichever vendor they come from.

New agent, then Marcus approves, then Onboarded.

Who decides · Marcus Oyelaran · Department head · a new agent seat

How it runs

A team wants a coding agent, from whichever vendor. Without a seat it arrives through a developer’s own account, with that developer’s access, calling whichever model the tool points at, and the first audit question, “who is accountable for what this agent does”, has no answer.

A seat is a role a person and an agent hold together; the escalation matrix says who decides above each limit, seat by seat.

Step by step

Who takes each step, in order.

For

Told end to end: Corvane gives agents access the way it gives people access. Corvane is a fictional company.

  1. 01Amara Diallo, engineering managerAsks for the seat: the jobs, the person who will answer for it, the systems it needs.
  2. 02Enterprise Architecture’s agentDrafts the seat from the senior developer role: decision rights, escalation path, models, systems.
  3. 03Marcus Oyelaran, department headApproves the seat (ORG-R05).
  4. 04The IAM practice’s agentCreates the identity inside the identity blueprint.
  5. 05The model gateway’s agentGrants model access inside the approved models; none for customer data (SEC-R12).
  6. 06Helena Strand, CISODeclines production access for the first quarter, with the reason and a review date (SEC-R03).
  7. 07Amara DialloAnswers for the agent; its first pull request is a request on her seat, nothing merged.
  8. 08Yuki Tanaka, compliance leadReviews the audit pack the record assembles before it leaves the company (AUD-R01).

Where the decisions sit

Decision, who decides, up to where, and above that whom.

How much the agent decides, to start. A new agent seat starts at “asks every time” for anything that merges, deploys or leaves the company. Limits widen per job as the record shows the agent asked and decided well, and the person who owns the seat decides each widening.

The record it leaves. One seat, decision record DEC-2210; three grants within policy; one escalation, DEC-2214, declined with a reason and a review date; and from then on every packet the agent prepared and every decision taken on it. The audit pack is a query, not a project.

The tools it runs through

We connect to the systems you run, and build the connection before the demo.

What it uses

Start with howyou run today.

Bring one piece of work that breaks at the handoffs: a pull request waiting on three reviewers, an initiative spread across twelve tools, a release nobody owns. We model the seats it crosses, give one of them an agent, and follow one decision to its record.
